Shipment Calculations

Weight - Volume Ratio of your Shipments

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CALCULATE THE VOLUMETRIC WEIGHT OF YOUR SHIPMENTS?

To know the shipping calculations, it is important to know that all calculations are made in inches (Inches) and the shipping formula to be used varies according to the type of transport service of the goods, either air or sea transport service.

The following are the ways to calculate the volumetric weight in air and ocean shipments and their generalities.

Calculation for Air Cargo: (Width x Length x Height) / 166

Air Freight: Air freight is charged on a volume weight basis, it is calculated for each pound (0.45Kg) of weight of the shipment, and the measurements of the box are also verified to obtain the volume weight.

For air cargo the following formula applies: You multiply the three measurements of your box in inches and then divide by 166

Example: If your box measures 16 inches wide x 12 inches high x 12 inches long it will give you a total of 2304, that result must be divided by 166. The final result will be the pounds per volume of your box.

Result: 16 x 12 x 12 = 2304 / 166 = 13.87 Pounds.

In air shipments will always be charged the larger size of your box, if it is heavier it will be shipped by weight; if it is more volumetric it will be shipped by volume, which must be multiplied by our rate for air shipment according to the desired destination, and add the minimum shipping rate to your destination.

Calculation for Sea Cargo: (Length x Width x Height) / 1728

Ocean Freight: All cargo shipped by sea is charged in relation to the volume of its cargo, and is calculated based on the dimensions in inches (2.54 cms) of the shipment regardless of weight, i.e. by volume.

The formula to get the cubic feet of your cargo is height x width x depth, that result should be divided by 1728, the result is the cubic feet of your box.

Result: If the package measures 18" x 18" x 24" then: (18 x 18 x 24) / 1728 = 4.5 Cubic Feet.

This tells us your volume is 4.5 cubic feet, which you must multiply by our ocean shipping rate according to the desired destination.

General Information

- The net weight, volumetric weight and the 3 measures of the box are always recorded so that all data can be verified.

- Consolidating goods reduces the volume of boxes being shipped, this reduces shipping costs by more than 50%.

- The calculation for package storage service fees will be made by the formula (Width x Length x Height) / 166.
